The mission of the Southern Chapter Board and the AssociateCommittee is to provide opportunities for Associates to complete the requirements to become full members of the PGA. This includes among others providing opportunities to teach golf to juniors, attend education programs, chapter and section meetings and opportunities to participate in programs which helps further their career growth. The responsibility of the Associate Committee is to reach out and clearly communicate that these programs exist.
To assist our Associates to achieve their goals, we are offering an Associate Orientation Presentation. Attendance in this program will meet one of the requirements in order for Associates to participate in Chapter tournaments.
The updated Southern Chapter Tournament Rules and Regulations state:
Section 3: Education and Participation Points: Beginning June 1, 2018, all Associates must receive 3 Credit points to be eligible for Chapter Tournaments during the Calendar Year. 1 credit point must come from attending a PGA Chapter Orientation meeting. The other 2 credits points may consist of but not limited to: Chapter Board meetings, Chapter Annual or Semi-Annual Membership meeting, volunteering for Junior Golf events, Special Olympics, or any other PGA recognized functions. Failure to meet the Associate annual point requirement will result in the inability to participate in Chapter or Section Tournaments. To reinstate eligibility, one must achieve all incomplete points prior to the start of the following season’s tournament schedule.
It is our intention to provide an opportunity for Associates to attend one if these meetings early in the year, thereby making it possible for these Associates to play in Chapter events thereafter. This previously mentioned Orientation Presentation will be held on May 22, 2018 at Omni Tucson National Resort. Registration will be begin at 3:35pm and the presentation will follow from 4:00pm – 5:00pm.
Golf Professionals, please extend the invite to any of your respective staff members who may be interested in joining the PGA Associate program to come participate at this orientation. This will be a great opportunity to speak to those individuals and answer any questions they may have before committing to the Associate program.
Contact Alex Bellville at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in attending this presentation.
