Helseth Holds Off Edmiston To Claim 2020 Southern Nevada PGA Chapter Championship
First round co-leader Troy Helseth (Anthem Country Club) fired a bogey-free 65 in the final round of the 2020 Southern Nevada PGA Chapter Championship @ TPC Las Vegas to hold off fellow first round co-leader Jason Edmiston (Las Vegas Country Club) for a 1-shot victory. Brian Sanders (Southern Highlands Golf Club), powered by a final round 69, finished in solo third.
The Par 3 2nd Hole turned out to be pivotal early in the round for the first round co-leaders. A Helseth birdie, coupled with an Edmiston double bogey, opened up a 3 shot lead for Helseth. Helseth backed that up with birdies on 4, 5, 6 11, and 12 en route to his unblemished final round scorecard.
Edmiston, however, would not go away. He bounced back from that double bogey with an eagle on #4, and after a bogey on #5, Edmiston mounted a furious charge over the final 13 holes, with birdies on 6, 9, 12, 14, 17, and a closing birdie on 18 that forced Helseth to make par to avoid a playoff.
