JUNIORS CLIMB BACK FROM A 2 POINT DEFICIT TO WIN THE VEGAS CUP 26.5-21.5 OVER SENIORS
After a solid day 1 showing in alternate shot and best ball matches, the Senior team entered day 2 with a 2-point lead over the Junior team (13-11). With 24 points up for grabs in singles matches the Senior team led by captain Troy Helseth (Anthem CC) still had work to do to retain the cup.
The Junior team led by captain Gerry Montiel (Red Rock CC) got off to a hot start in day 2 singles play including sweeping 3 points in two of the first three matches. The momentum would continue for the Junior team as they continued to pick up points in the later matches. A 3-point sweep by Travis Long (Anthem CC) for the senior team kept the Seniors alive to the last match. Ultimately Jon Scolari (Summit Club) defeating Helseth 2.5 - .5 sealed the victory for the Junior squad.
The Vegas Cup uses a ‘Ryder Cup’ style format, with 3 points available for each match (Front 9, Back 9, Full 18)
The Chapter would like to than Under Armour for once again sponsoring this year’s event, as well as Coyote Springs Golf Club for being our host venue!
