SOUTHWEST PGA FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH ALICE COOPER’S SOLID ROCK TEEN CENTERS
Partnership provides collaboration of missions to support community youth
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - March 14, 2022 - The Southwest Section PGA Foundation announced today that it has partnered with legendary rock musician and Phoenix-community philanthropist Alice Cooper and his Solid Rock Teen Centers to utilize the game of golf to enhance the lives of area youth.
"The Southwest PGA Foundation couldn’t be more excited to partner with iconic musician Alice Cooper and his Solid Rock Teen Centers," said Michael Haywood, Chairman of the Southwest PGA Foundation. "Alice’s love and passion for the game of golf and how it has positively impacted his life, provides a great synergy with our mission of utilizing the game to teach valuable life skills to today’s children and young adults. What Alice and his team have created with the Solid Rock Teen Centers here in the Phoenix valley is so impressive. We’re honored and excited to support their efforts."
The strategic partnership allows both organizations to further their mission of impacting young lives through music and sport. The partnership includes financial support to the Alice Cooper Solid Rock Teen Rock Centers, as well as Cooper’s ambassadorship for the Foundation’s mission in growing the game. Alice Cooper’s Teen Rock Center has two locations, in Phoenix and suburban Mesa. The Teen Rock Centers inspire teens (age 12-20) to grow through music, dance and art.
"I play golf in the morning and rock and roll at night as golf was a key component in keeping me sober," said Alice Cooper. "God healed me and playing golf six days a week is a blessing. My wife Sheryl and I are truly excited to team up with the Southwest PGA Foundation to further their amazing work as well as Solid Rock’s impact on the lives of teens."
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, Cooper has been a singer, songwriter and musician for almost a half-century. He has been the pioneer of a groundbreaking theatrical and heavy metal rock performance designed to shock parents and thrill kids. He is fulfilling a mission to provide teens with a central place to learn, have fun, and explore their creativity in a supportive and safe environment. The Rock is the first of many teen centers in Arizona and, ultimately, around the country.
"We are so pleased to be able to partner with the Southwest PGA Foundation in an effort to further both organizations mission statement," said Jeff Moore, Executive Director of Solid Rock. "We believe together we can make a greater impact on the groups we serve and look forward to impacting lives in a meaningful way over the years to come."
The partnership between the two youth-centric organizations includes annual financial support for the Solid Rock Teen Centers, as well as social media and marketing support toward the advancement of their respective missions. The Southwest PGA Foundation also welcomes representation from Solid Rock Teen Center as an advisory voice in further aligning the programs and initiatives to support the development of area youth throughout the Phoenix metropolitan valley.
