The McPherson Cup Matches is a biennial event between the Colorado, Southwest and Sun Country PGA Sections in a Ryder Cup style format with all three Sections competing over two days, playing 54 holes of golf. Teams are made up of 12 Class A PGA Professionals – eight, ages 49 and younger and four, 50 and over.
A total of 24 points will be available for each Section to earn. Six points are available in each session of the opening day and 12 points in the second day’s singles matches. The Section with the most points at the end of competition will be declared the winner.
The Southwest PGA captured the Inaugural McPherson Cup Matches with 21.5 points. Their total was 1.5 points better than the Colorado PGA who finished second with 20 points. The Sun Country PGA finished third with 12.5 points. The Inaugural McPherson Cup Matches were held September 25-27, 2018 – The Glacier Club, Durango, Colo.

Teams arrive and welcome reception in the evening at the Glacier Club
Wed., Sept. 23 -
Fourball matches in the morning and foursome (alternate shot) matches in the afternoon
Thur., Sept. 24
Three-ball, singles matches will be played in the morning followed by the awards ceremony.
