Jeff Lessig Elected to the PGA of America Board of Directors
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Jeff Lessig of Fountain Hills, Ariz., was elected to serve on the PGA of America Board of Directors by PGA members of the Southwest Professional Golfers' Association of America at the Association's 63rd Annual Meeting.
Lessig, a PGA Life Member, will represent District 14 for the PGA of America which covers the Southwest PGA and Pacific Northwest PGA, the fifth and sixth largest Sections, respectively, in the PGA of America. He will serve a three-year term beginning in November of 2022.
A graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and Journalism, Lessig attended college on a combination basketball/baseball athletic scholarship and earned seven varsity letters.
Following college, Lessig earned his membership in the PGA of America in 1986. He has held positions of PGA General Manager and PGA Director of Golf at daily fee, resort and private facilities, most recently as PGA Director of Golf at Verde River Golf & Social Club in Rio Verde, Ariz.
Over his 35-year career, Lessig has served on numerous Southwest PGA and PGA of America committees. He was a member of the Southwest PGA Board of Directors and served as an officer for eight years as secretary, vice president, president and honorary president. He was honored with many awards including the Southwest PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 1999.
After a “shadow” year, Lessig will fill the director seat of Doug Doxsie, PGA Head Golf Professional at Seattle Golf Club in Shoreline, Wash., who currently represents District 14 on the PGA of America Board of Directors. Doxsie’s three-year term runs from 2019-2022.
The PGA of America’s Board of Directors is composed of the Association’s President, Vice President, Secretary and 19 Directors. The Directors include representatives from each of the PGA’s 14 Districts, three independent directors, one at-large director and a member of the PGA Tour.
