JESSE MUELLER & WYATT WORTHINGTON II SET FOR 106TH PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - May 15, 2024 – Jesse Mueller and Wyatt Worthington II will be representing the Southwest PGA in the 106th PGA Championship, May 16-19, at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Both qualified for the PGA Championship after finishing in the top 20 in last month’s PGA Professional Championship (PPC) held at Fields Ranch in Frisco, Texas. They join 18 other PGA Professionals from around the country who make up the Corebridge Financial Team at the PGA Championship.

Mueller, 41, PGA General Manager at Grand Canyon University Golf Course in Phoenix, will be making his second PGA Championship appearance and fourth in a major championship. He competed in the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills C.C. in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the 2022 U.S. Open at the Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts and the 2012 U.S. Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, California, where he finished T51.

At the 2024 PPC, Mueller finished tied for fourth place, finishing with rounds of 72, 75, 71 and 72 for a total of 2-over-par 290. He won the PPC in 2022 at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, becoming only the second Southwest PGA member to capture the title (Larry Webb in 1983).

This past February, Mueller made history becoming the first Southwest PGA Professional since 2005 to make the 36-hole cut in the WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale. He finished tied for 66th with rounds of 71-68-73-71—283 (-1).

Last season Mueller captured his fourth consecutive Southwest PGA Player of the Year honor, fourth best in Section history behind Don Yrene (6), Bob Phillips (6) and Michael Hopper (5).

In the first round, Mueller will begin at 1:02 p.m. (EDT) off the 10th tee, with Andrew Putnam and Charley Hoffman. For the second round, Mueller will start at 7:37 a.m. (EDT) off the 1st tee.
 



Worthington, 37, PGA Sales Representative for Eastside Golf, will be making his third consecutive and fourth overall PGA Championship start having competed in 2016 at Baltusrol G.C. in Springfield, New Jersey, in 2022 at Southern Hills C.C. and last year at Oak Hill C.C. in Rochester, New York.

A graduate of the PGA Golf Management program at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Worthington earned his membership in the PGA of America in 2012. He worked as a PGA Assistant Golf Professional at Muirfield Village G.C. and as a PGA Teaching Professional at The Golf Depot at Central Park – both as a member of the Southern Ohio Section. This past February he transferred to the Southwest PGA with his new position at Eastside Golf residing in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Worthington led the 2024 PPC through the first two rounds aided by an opening round 65 ultimately finishing T16 with rounds of 65-70-78-80 for a total of 293 (+5), earning his spot in the PGA Championship. He has three top 10 finishes in the PPC over his career – T8 in 2023, T4 in 2022 and T6 in 2016.

Among his many accomplishments in the Southern Ohio Section PGA, Worthington won the 2021 Southern Ohio PGA Professional Championship at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. His 54-hole total of 203 (-10) was five shots better than runner-up Kyler Booher.

Worthington’s opening round begins at 2:52 p.m. (EDT) off the 10th tee with Vincent Norrman and Chris Gotterup. In the second round, he starts at 9:27 a.m. (EDT) off the 1st tee.
